Gospel Tract Planet: An Exclusive Interview with Andrew Lawniczak

Andy Lawniczak

Today we have the pleasure of hearing from Andrew “Andy” Lawniczak, founder of Gospel Tract Planet, “the place to get your Biblical Gospel tracts and Evangelism Resources to help you share your faith”.

Andy has been active in gospel evangelism for many years, with a heart and passion for the provision of custom gospel tracts to better equip the saints for the ministry of evangelism. I have been a personal acquaintance of Andy for much of that time and have also benefited from and been blessed by and through the use of resources provided through Andy’s ministry.

Please join me as we catch up with and discover how God has been at work in Andy’s life and about his passion for the ministry of Gospel Tract Planet.

Hi Andy, welcome, and thank you for taking the time to share with us. Please tell us a little bit about yourself, where you are from, your family and your Christian background.

~

I was born and raised in Wisconsin, moving to Evansville, Indiana when I was 16.  I got married at the age of 20 and moved to Lexington, Kentucky with my wife three years later. While there, through a series of interesting events, I was saved at a revival meeting at my friend’s church. Starting almost immediately, I got excited (and very nervous) about evangelism, and found some material by Ray Comfort about how to share my faith. These principles have stuck with me since then, and form the foundation of everything I do in ministry.

When did you start Gospel Tract Planet? What sparked the idea, and how did you come up with the name?

In 2006, I designed a Million Dollar bill with Ronald Reagan on it for my friend Marv Plementosh. From there, a friend of his saw the design and wanted me to design a Texas-themed million dollar bill for him. After designing that bill, he said he had been praying about starting a Gospel tract ministry and asked me to partner with him. With that, Custom Tract Source was born! Our main purpose for starting the ministry was to give Christians a place to go in order to get custom tracts produced, as well as giving them the ability to simply have their contact information pre-printed on tracts we already carried.

At the beginning of this year, through another series of interesting events, I ended up buying my partner out of his half of the business, and became full owner of Custom Tract Source.  With that purchase, I decided to change the name to Gospel Tract Planet, and have been running under the new name for the last couple months.

How would you describe Gospel Tract Planet?

The consistent vision for the ministry has been to provide some of the highest quality tracts available at a reasonable price.  We are constantly striving to improve both the design of the tracts and the message on each one. We try to be as personable as possible and love to interact with our customers.  That’s why I’m excited about being able to interact through Facebook recently.

Where does your passion for Gospel Tract Planet come from? What motivates you to invest your time, talent and resources in this ministry to others?

Starting very early on, I had a dream of the ministry becoming a full time endeavor. I also own a graphic design and printing business, but my passion always lay in designing Gospel tracts and working with fellow believers on projects that have an eternal impact. One of my ultimate joys I have found is going to various Christian conferences and getting to meet customers face-to-face and to hear their encouraging stories.  I plan to go to as many as I can, and I am always looking forward to the next one.

How is Gospel Tract Planet a blessing to others?

We have gotten many emails and phone calls about how people have been excited to finally find a solid tract ministry that offered custom tracts for Christians.  This has been very encouraging to us!

How has Gospel Tract Planet been a blessing to you (and your family)?

Simply getting to do something that impacts people for eternity has been a huge blessing. Working with so many different believers from all over the world from so many different backgrounds is so rewarding. I also now get to work primarily doing this ministry, rather than my other business, which is a dream come true.

Do you have a particular vision for Gospel Tract Planet and where you might hope to be a year from now? Five years from now?

Obviously, any growth in the ministry is of the Lord.  That being said, Lord willing, I would love to double the exposure and reach of the ministry to many others who haven’t heard of us, but have a need for solid custom tracts. I’d like to also reach many people who, up to this point, have been too afraid to reach out and fulfill the great commission.  I want to give them the tools to get out of their comfort zone and reach people with the Gospel by using a simple Gospel tract.  So many in our churches today have never shared the Gospel, and it would be great to give them a simple and effective way to do so.

Is there anything about Gospel Tract Planet that you find particularly challenging, and if so, how do you deal with it?

While not terribly challenging, I would say that the most difficult part of what I do is dealing with the occasional hateful email we receive from time to time. Sometimes people are not happy after reading a tract, or finding some “religious material” in a case of beer they bought or something.  The Gospel should not be a message that people are indifferent about. Martin Luther said, “Always preach in such a way that if the people listening do not come to hate their sin, they will instead hate you.”

I do take joy in responding in the most friendly and courteous way that I’m glad they took the time to write and I can understand where they are coming from.  I do try to reinforce the Gospel.  Nearly every time, they write back with a completely different tone, and sometimes thank me for the response.  You never know how God is working on someone’s heart, but sometimes conviction of sin makes people lash out.  As the scripture says “A soft answer turns away wrath.” (Proverbs 15:1)

So if you were king for a day, would you do anything differently with Gospel Tract Planet, perhaps to take it to the next level?

For some reason, this question makes me cringe.  To think of myself in charge of *anything* for a day is not something I think I would want (LOL)!  If I had to answer, I supposed I’d love to be a guest on a national radio or TV show to talk about the ministry. I’d just want to get the word out to those who haven’t heard of us.

Is there anything that has happened recently or is about to happen that you are especially excited about and would like to share with us?

The ministry buyout and name change was a huge deal in our lives.  It was amazing seeing God work things out in ways that we did not expect, and the blessings that resulted in the end. We are grateful for where we are and the future of Gospel Tract Planet.  We can’t wait for what God has in store.

For what are you most grateful?

There are so many things.  First is that God would choose to save a wretch like me.  Second is that he would give me a great family, and a ministry that I love.

Finally, where can our audience find out more about Gospel Tract Planet and perhaps reach out to you directly?
